A member of Literary Managers & Dramaturgs of the Americas (LMDA) and a Boston-based producer/director/actress, Julie has dramaturged for Zeitgeist Stage Company, 11:11, and Company One. She serves as Producing Artistic Director of Way Theatre Artists where she assistant directs and dramaturgs the Zeitgeist/Way co-production of The Kentucky Cycle. Julie has directed for the Boston Theatre Marathon, Lux at Park Street Church, and has acted in and marketed numerous productions in the Boston area. Prior to Boston, she performed in Connecticut as Viola in Twelfth Night, Anya in The Cherry Orchard, and other roles as she trained at HB Studio in New York City and the Actors Workshop of New Haven. Julie credits JC as her ultimate source of strength and grace and thanks Bill for helping her live it.

About Lux
Drama can be a powerful communicative, teaching, and evangelistic tool. To that end, Lux was formed under the Soli Deo Gloria arts ministry banner. The name Lux, Latin for "Light", emphasizes drama's capacity to illuminate in both personal and communal ways. The workshop is intended to encourage and enable people to see if drama is an avocation for them.
Workshop Material
After the first meeting, material will be selected and suggested for workshop participants based on each person's range and goals.
Technique
There are many acting techniques. We'll look at the Ten Object Exercises that Uta Hagen taught at HB Studio in New York City.
Potential Field Trips
There is a LOT of theatre happening in Boston and part of learning about acting can come from observing. At www.bostix.com there are examples of discounted theatre running during the workshop series. The site lists shows on sale half-price day of show (in person at BosTix booths) and tickets on sale in advance for a discount. Plays are optional field trips (outside the workshop time) and a chance to discuss how we feel about the material and the acting.
